Linux System Admin - Freelance

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Linux System Administrator to join our team on a freelance basis. This is a part-time remote position (20 hours/week) where you will manage our Linux server infrastructure and ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Linux servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL)
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues
• Implement security patches and updates
• Automate routine tasks using shell scripts
• Configure and manage web servers (Nginx, Apache)
• Set up and maintain backup systems
• Document system configurations and procedures
• Provide technical support to the development team

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3+ years of Linux system administration experience
• Strong knowledge of Linux distributions (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL)
• Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash)
• Experience with Python scripting
• Knowledge of web server configuration (Nginx, Apache)
• Understanding of networking and security principles
• Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, or similar)
• Ability to work independently and remotely
• Available for 20 hours per week

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, DigitalOcean, Linode)
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker)
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet)
• Understanding of database administration (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
